Adjustment of Status is the process by which a person who is already in the United States can apply to become a permanent resident (obtain a "Green Card") without having to return to his or her home country.

General Requirements:
• Be physically present in the United States.
• Have a valid visa or have entered legally.
• Not having committed certain immigration violations or serious crimes.
